My New Sunroom

Well, we have completed our first project in our new house and it turned out just like I was wanting it. My sunroom is my favorite room in the house because it is so bright and sunny and I have always wanted one. The previous owner's had a dog that chewed the window trim and a big hole in the wall, so we added beadboard 6ft. high and replaced the trim with 1x4's and used a 1x4 at the top and bottom of the beadboard to give it a casual barnlike feel. I painted the beadboard Creamy White (Behr) and the top Off White (Behr) but I did have that color darkened a little when it came out too light. I have no furniture in there yet, but I was thinking of some comfy, but outdoor type furniture. Any suggestions?

Our trip to the home of the Cabbage Patch kids

We went to Babyland General Hospital while my son was on his fall break from school. They both loved it! I used to go there when I was a little girl and it brought back memories. Original Cabbage Patch kids are "born" and sold here (for a large price tag). They also have a gift shop with doll clothes, accessories, etc. It was a lot of fun.
This is in front of the patch where the babies are waiting to be born.

This is in front of the nursery where the newborn babies are kept.
The nurse was delivering "Billy Joel" from the cabbage.

This was the school room for the older dolls. The dolls were beautiful and all unique. We did not buy one though. My daughter wanted a Christmas doll for $365. It was not in the budget, but they were really neat.

The kids thought this picture was so funny!

Wallpaper removal- HELP!

I was hoping there were some experts out there on taking wallpaper down. I have two bathrooms in my new house that are wallpapered in flowers. I am not a floral wallpaper kind of girl and prefer a simple coat of paint. I have heard that it is not an easy job, so I thought I would get some advice from those who have done it before. Let me know if you have any handy tips. Thanks!

I've been tagged!

Sarah G.'s mom tagged me from http://farleyville03.blogspot.com/ so I am trying not to let it die. Here are the rules:

1. If I don't go anywhere during the day, I often get busy and don't get a shower until 3 or 4 o'clock in the afternoon.

2. I come up with my best decorating ideas very late at night or when I awake during the night. Sometimes I go on other blogs during the night too to check out their ideas.

3. I am obsessed with hand washing. It drives my husband and kids crazy. Sometimes I can't even enjoy being out in public because the germs gross me out!

4. Laundry is my least favorite chore. I never can get caught up and it is never done. I would rather scrub toilets.

5. I love being alone. If I don't get some alone time sometime during the week, I feel like I might come out of my skin. I am easily overstimulated.

6. I love bargains (like most people) and I am not embarrased by asking for a cheaper price on just about anything. I do embarras my family doing this though.

7. Organization is not my strong suit. I really have to work at it and I can't seem to keep a room neat and tidy until it is painted and decorated the way I like it.

Tag, you're it!

My First Swap

I just sent my first Fall Swap package. I sent mine out a little late with the arrival of my new little one, but I did take some pictures of what I sent to Summer. I had so much fun coming up with fun things to send her. I took a picture of the pumpkin tassel I made close up, but I can't find it anywhere! That seems to be a theme for me right now!

Great outdoor update on a small budget

It's been awhile since my last post. My new baby (and other two kids) have kept me busy...I have been "tagged" by Amy from Farleyville and I will get to that. I won't forget!

We are slowly working on our new house making it into our cozy cottage home. I wanted new carriage style garage doors because they would go great on our house with the weathervane that is on top of the house. They are very expensive, so we did the "budget" update. I ordered the hardware from ebay for $67 including shipping and we screwed them in to our metal garage doors. They turned out great and I got the look without the high price. I can send you the name of the store I got them from if you are interested.
Had to give an updated picture on the new baby! His sister loves him so much!

Our baby boy is here!

Our new son was born on Sept. 30th at 3:56 p.m. An hour and a half after they gave me potocin, he came. I was hoping for a successful epidural this time, but it was too late again. I guess I was not meant for epidurals! He weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz. and is 20 inches long. He is such a sweet blessing to our family! He is a great baby. I thank the Lord for another healthy child! Three is keeping me busy for sure, but I am enjoying having a baby to hold again!

His big brother and sister are so proud!

We are finally home and out of that crazy hospital! ( I don't like hospitals)

"Wow, there is finally a baby in this crib!"

Our New Home

It has been awhile since I have posted. It is good to be back! We have moved into our new house and it feels good to be on this side and settling in. I still have some boxes to unpack, but it is feeling more like home. With lots of help from family, I have managed to get the living room, kitchen, and laundry room painted. I am hoping to get the baby's room painted before he is born. Only 1 1/2 weeks until his due date.... I am excited to meet him. I thought I might be in labor last night, so I got up at 1:45 a.m. and took a shower and got the bags ready. I guess it was one of those irrational "middle of the night" moments. Does anyone else have those? I finally went back to sleep and I am still pregnant this morning.

I took a few pics of some of the fall decorating I have done in the house. I hope you enjoy! This "fallish" weather puts me in the mood for pumpkins, baking, and decorating!

This is our living room.
This mantle is very deep, so it holds so much stuff!

The front porch.

I needed a little end table beside this chair, but did not want to buy one, so I used my grandmother's picnic basket for the bottom and I already had the red one. I love how it turned out. I put magazines etc. in the top basket. It's great storage and keeps the clutter out of site.

My Kitchen- one of my favorite rooms

I am giving you the kitchen tour before I pack it up. I just realized I only got pictures of the upper portion and that is because I was in the middle of packing. The counters were a mess. I will post other pics later once I find them. My kitchen has a farmhouse feel, at least that was what I was going for. I had a great time decorating this room. I wanted to paint my cabinets, but did not do it since we had the house for sale. I did paint the island red and added beadboard to it and the backsplash. I painted the backsplash brown. I will not have near as much wall space in the new house's kitchen, so needless to say, I will have some extra decor with a home... Enjoy!

My baby's nursery on wheels

Our baby boy will make his arrival next month so I wanted to get his nursery all ready for him. I almost finished it never dreaming that our house would sell before he was born. Well, our house sold and we are moving in 2 weeks. I will be taking all his stuff with me and creating the room for him at the new house, although it might not be before he is born. Here are some pics of the nursery...

I made his baby blanket out of 2 pieces of chenille and some brown yarn. His bumper pads are brown chenille and they are so soft!
This is my grandmothers milk glass lamp that I painted blue where there was wood. I still need to do the fabric shade.

My daughter's room

A friend of mine, Amy F. wanted some pictures of my daughter's room, and since we are moving, I have to get these pictures done fast before I start packing. This was her nursery and it was easily transformed into her "big girl" room. A friend of mine did the painting and I absolutely love it! I never get tired of this room and I am sad to leave it. Girl rooms are so much fun!

This is an antique child's cupboard that I turned into a kitchen for her. She loves to set this little table and play "tea party" with her brother, me, friends, and her dolls.

This is an old candelier that I got for $10 at an antique show . They were asking more, but it was bent so they came down. It is perfect for her room and I don't mind that it's bent. I am not into perfect!

Here is the "little princess" in her room. I got the toybox at a garage sale for $5! I added the scalloped molding and the two frames with the chalkboard and chenille fabric. Then I added the handles and voila! A cute girly, toybox..

This is her bed. I cut the full chenille coverlet to twin size and used the rest to make the sham etc...The bed I bought at a local antique store for $40 and painted it white.

This is a sign I made from an old door panel.

This is an old window that my friend painted on and I added some shutters that I painted pink and my grandmother's hankies are the curtains. This is hanging above her bed.

My friend, Elise, helped me with ideas to turn the cupboard into a kitchen. I hope to pass this one down to the grandchildren. I love to play with it too!

Lots of happenings!

Our house is now under contract! It has been for sale for 8 mos. and only 3 people have looked at it. The right buyer came along and she loves it and wants to close Sept. 2nd. I am excited and overwhelmed at all I have to do before our baby comes Sept. 28th. We have found a house we like (a foreclosure) and are waiting to hear back on our offer. Here are some pics of the new house. I can't wait to get in and paint and decorate it. How fun!

My husband took the pictures, so there we not a lot of good ones to include. I love the backyard and brick patio! It also has a little sunroom next to the patio. So many possibilities...
