Lots of happenings!

Our house is now under contract! It has been for sale for 8 mos. and only 3 people have looked at it. The right buyer came along and she loves it and wants to close Sept. 2nd. I am excited and overwhelmed at all I have to do before our baby comes Sept. 28th. We have found a house we like (a foreclosure) and are waiting to hear back on our offer. Here are some pics of the new house. I can't wait to get in and paint and decorate it. How fun!

My husband took the pictures, so there we not a lot of good ones to include. I love the backyard and brick patio! It also has a little sunroom next to the patio. So many possibilities...

Our newest family member- Lily

Meet Lily, our new 9 month old boxer that we got from a boxer rescue in our area. We went to meet her last night, fell in love with her and brought her home. We lost our dog, Shelby to cancer in February and miss her terribly. Lily has a simliar personality and is very timid like Shelby was at first. We are enjoying getting to know her. She is already my buddy and follows me everywhere.

As you can see, our kids just love her already. She even puts up with them in her crate. Now I can leave and they are all contained. Should I try it? LOL

Some new uses for some old things

This is an old door I found at a garage sale in Florida while we were at the beach. I actually got 2 for $10 each and my patient husband was able to unpack and repack the van around the 2 doors to get them home. I knew he loved me then! The chair was another garage sale find for $4. I painted it red and gave it a new home as an end table next to the loveseat in the living room. Elements of surprise in the home make it more fun to live in and visit! I will show you what I did with the other door on another post.

This is an antique desk that I bought at a garage sale for $3! I painted it white and spray painted the legs black. I love my little find!

This is my back door in my kitchen. I just made the "eat" letters. I decopauged scrapbook paper to the wooden letters. It gives the kitchen a bit of whimsy!

These are my sweet kiddos playing in the backyard. They are my favorite part of my home!

Some more pictures of my home

This is my dining room. I love toille and the black and white is so classic and goes with any color. I have also thought about painting this room pale robins egg blue and keeping the toille. We will see if I get around to it. The hutch I have was my mom's when I was a child. She gave it to me. I painted it black and distressed the edges so that some of the oak shows through. I also took off the doors to give it an open feel.

My little spot out back

My favorite spot right now, well, before it got so hot, is my back porch. At the beginning of the summer, I painted some faux stones on the concrete slab to warm it up a little. I drew out the stones with sidewalk chalk and then used a foam brush to apply concrete stain from Home Depot. I then used a few different shades of latex and acrylic paint on a wet sponge and swirled them around on each of the different "stones" to vary the colors and make it look more authentic. The porch has more of an "outdoor room" feel now which is what I was going for. The only thing missing now is a wisteria covered pergola for some shade....

Where do I begin?

I am new to this blog thing, but I love looking at ya'lls pictures and ideas so I thought I would give it a go. My friend, Elise, talked me into it. We are late night crafting buddies. I look forward to sending you pictures of some of my treasures and my home. I am a junk shopper and love to create with unconventional items. My dream some day when I have time is to have a booth of my own at my favorite store.
