Wallpaper removal- HELP!
I was hoping there were some experts out there on taking wallpaper down. I have two bathrooms in my new house that are wallpapered in flowers. I am not a floral wallpaper kind of girl and prefer a simple coat of paint. I have heard that it is not an easy job, so I thought I would get some advice from those who have done it before. Let me know if you have any handy tips. Thanks!

Ewwwww! I would have to take that down also! I have removed wallpaper before, I used a gel wallpaper remover and it worked okay. I have heard that using a scorer allows the liquid to penetrate the glue. On HGTV I have seen them use just a mixture of liquid fabric softener and water. Hopefully the previous owners put the wallpaper up correctly, that will make it easier to take down. Good luck, can't wait to see the finished pics!

The scorer (the paper tiger) and the chemical stuff they recommend works great. Once you score it the chemical gets behind the paper and lifts it right off. (with a paint scraper of course.)
I already told you what we had to do in our previous home. Not fun...
I am so glad I will not have to worry about it this go round.

Didn't know you'd get a comment so soon, huh? :) I just finished removing wallpaper in my living room - 21 x 27 x 10.5. Not a fun job. My recommendation? Buy a steamer! Ours was $50 and well worth every penny. I had 90% of the room done in one afternoon. Good luck!

Look at the seams to see if they are buckeling in anyway...if not leave it up; Prime and pant it. The builder probably put it in and didn't use the proper pre-wash (or whatever that is they are supposed to put up.) We have taken it down many times. We have the scorer and a steamer and the chemicals but none help if it was put up by the wrong way... Good luck and you are welcome to use our stuff. It maybe at the lake but we can get it in the next few weeks :)
