My little spot out back

My favorite spot right now, well, before it got so hot, is my back porch. At the beginning of the summer, I painted some faux stones on the concrete slab to warm it up a little. I drew out the stones with sidewalk chalk and then used a foam brush to apply concrete stain from Home Depot. I then used a few different shades of latex and acrylic paint on a wet sponge and swirled them around on each of the different "stones" to vary the colors and make it look more authentic. The porch has more of an "outdoor room" feel now which is what I was going for. The only thing missing now is a wisteria covered pergola for some shade....

Hi, Amy! I'm Katie...it's nice to meet you! I hopped over from Elise's blog. I love your "stones"...I did the same thing this past spring, only I did brick. I need to post pictures of it. You did a great job! I never would have known it was faux!

I love what you did with your patio! I have boring concrete also and was thinking of doing something to make it not so blah! What a wonderful idea and also what is great is the lines don't have to be perfect! I think I might have to copy- hope you don't mind!
